End Water Poverty

End Water Poverty logoCARE is pleased to be a part of the End Water Poverty coalition. End Water Poverty is the international campaign that aims to bring an end to the global water and sanitation crisis.

Without sanitation and clean water there can be no sustainable development in health, education and livelihoods, which would result in people being locked into a cycle of poverty and disease.

This global crisis is one of inequality and poverty. If it is not tackled decisively, it will prevent and undermine the progress which has been made in reducing poverty, in achieving universal primary education, and improving people's basic health.

The End Water Poverty campaign is demanding that governments prioritise the provision of sanitation and water for the world's poorest people.

We are calling for:

  • One global action plan for sanitation and water monitored by one global task force
  • 70% of aid money for sanitation and water to be targeted at the poorest countries
  • Water resources to be protected and shared equitably

The coalition is formed of like-minded organisations from around the world who are demanding urgent action and leadership from donors and governments alike. Only together, with one voice, can we tackle this devastating crisis which affects billions of poor people around the world.
